How much negativ enviromental impact has our live with and in our vehicle

1. The vehicle:

Often we are asked about the petrol milage of our vehicle.

- Yes this vehicle consumes approx. double as much as a normal camper.
- On the other site our philosophie is not to rush through the world but to spent long and enough time
in each countriy. And this means driving much less.

- The average German owning a car drives 12.660 km / year means a couple is driving average
25.320 km / year. Our limit is set to 40 km a day and this multiplies to 14.600 km / year.

- Additonally we will use the airplane much less knowing that this travelling form consumes extrem
  high energy.
- By designing the vehicle we have put a lot of emphasis on energy - low and energy - friendly
technologies. Of course this has let to a larger vehicle size.

2. Enviromental friendly cabine:

Technical features:

- Energy type - mainly solar energy (self produced energy):
  * 6 solar panels each having a power capacity of 120 Watts.
  * Energy - storage: 6 batteries each having a capacity of 220 Ah at 12 Volt
Have enough energy storage capacity is the most important point to efficiently use the solar
     power.

- Water: own water works by means of 3 filters and ultra-violette lamp. We can take water from
rivers and lakes and still use it for drinking perpose.

- Toilette: in comparison to a standard house flushing system at home we have very low water
consumption (due to the design of this system) - means less fresh water and less polution

- Heating: perfectly isolated cabine needs very low heating and cooling power.

- Hot water: mainly we use solar power to heat the water. We need much less water for dish
  washing and for shower

- Fridge: by using a cooling box with good isolation the power consumption is half (coldness not
lost while opening the door of the fridge). Our 80 Ltr. cooling box consumes only 25 Ah / day at
  12 Volt

3. To live enviromental friendly:

This is the most important part to preserve the enviroment!!!

You can do this also at home but "good old habbits" make chances so difficult.

- Water consumption:
  * the average German consumes 128 liter drinking water per day.

  * We needed in this vehicle until now 16,5 Liter per person per day. And this was not difficult.
And we produced our own drinking water quality.

- Energy consumption:

  * For heating and hot water the average German 18.000 kWh / year and additionally a 2 person
house hold need 2.700 kWh / year for electricity.

  * We live to 80% on solar power and we need additionally 1.500 kWh / year Diesel energy (for
heating and hot water). This also includes cooking - we use inductive cooking plates and we to
85% "at home" but powered with solar energy.
  * As lights we use the most effizient LED lamps.

  * the key to all this is the energy storage ability via batteries which allows us to use electricity for
     4-5 days without sun shine.

We have installed a diesel generator set in case of bad weather but in the two years so fare we
used it only 6 hours in total.

Summary: We need much more fuel per km but in the total yearly energy balance we need only a small part of the energy we used at home
