Why the decision to give up an highly interesting Management Job at the age of 57?

Because there exists other beautiful things on this planet besides the interesting and hectic management life. And because we feel our age of 107 is the right time to start now the 3rd part of our life. For the business life, with a duration of 30 - 40 years many must prepare themselves with an education of 5 - 10 years. For the 3rd life span, with an duration of also 30 years in average nobody prepares themselves. Often with the result to fall psychogically in a „deep hole“ followed often also with physical problems.

Already at the age of 50 I decided to professionally prepare the 3rd life span. As a motto I asked myself: What especially I liked very much in my business life  and what not. What of the good points I can take with me in the new life and what I want to get rid off.

Together to experience new adventures

How did the idea develop to plan and start a world tour?

I started travelling as a student. In 1972 and 1973 we managed to visit by car the Eastern Bloc States Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and the very exotic states Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia. At these times a real adventure. One year later we travelled to the Northkap in Norway as well as to Finland and Sweden. Also quite adventurous. The travelling virus was implanted. The enthusiasm for foreing countries and cultures and the love for exotic food has pushed me to start in Sales (anyhow the best job in life) and quickly I had the chance to get global tasks. The globalisation has increased the demand for internationally acting people. So I got the offer to work in India for Rexroth and I immediately agreed. With the family and 3 children I stood in this beautiful country for 4,5 years and learnt about the people, culture and business habits. At the end my most beautiful time in my business life. Afterwards (until end of 2008) I had international jobs always related to a lot of travelling. Practically all country which need industrial products I could visit. The conversations with this people were the high lights in my business life.

Also the responsibility and the „power“ which I had in my position was nice but luckely this is one of the things which i can easily di without.

What I do not want to miss is travelling!!

What will i definitely not carry over to my 3rd life span?

Today my work day is covered with numerous appointments (up to 10 per day) or by rushing round the world with limited time and visiting the same hotels and companies.

And exactly this I would like to avoid in future. Our dream is to travel around the world with all the time which we need to learn about the country, the people, the cultures and languages (yes at least the basics of important languages). We want to dive deep into the cultures. To learn about the aborgines, to learn about religions, to taste and to learn cooking the various food styles. Cooking will become (besides fotographing) my second hobby. Additionally we are planning to write books (mainly for us and the family and friends and perhaps some will be published).

And mostly I am looking forward to spent this new life now intensely with my dream partner Rita and to have much more time together.

What is he view of Rita and the children?

I do not want to bore the reader with a philosophical view about travelling.

Therefore short:

   „The world is like a book,

     Who never travels,

     Has read only one page“

So much about my motives.

Our children see our decision also very positive and habe animated us to do it.

They are looking forward to read our infos on this page, to visit us from time to time at nice places somewhere or to enjoy our home visits intensively.
